About the Author
Ishan Puri is a Stanford University graduate who enjoys writing and teaching about the college admissions process. Since 2009, he has helped thousands of students through the admissions process and has written for Huffington Post, Yahoo, LA Times, and the New York Times on education. A seasoned veteran of science fair, he has won 1st place at the Ventura County Science Fair twice in a row in 11th and 12th grade. He has also taken the 1st and 2nd place at the California State Science Fair and published his work in computational linguistics, which formed the basis of his high school science fair work. After 11th grade, he represented the United States at the London International Youth Science Forum in England as one of seven. He was admitted to several of the top private and public schools in the United States. He started Synocate, an academic preparation and college mentoring catalyst, to help students and parents navigate student's passions and interests and ultimately the college admissions process. His work has been featured in several media outlets. He also enjoys studying biology, technology policy, and venture capital/private equity. In his free time, he plays tennis and relaxes with friends.
