About the Author

Third-generation Alaskan Laurel Downing Bill is an award-winning author and speaker who specializes in sharing stories from Alaska's colorful past. Her entertaining nonfiction series titled Aunt Phils Trunk developed after she inherited her Alaska historian aunt Phyllis Downing Carlson's research and articles about the Last Frontier. Laurel earned a degree in journalism with a minor in history (at age 52) to gain the literary tools needed to turn her aunt's body of work into the series that now is widely sold at fine bookstores and gift shops across Alaska. She currently lives in Anchorage and enjoys reading, golf and spoiling her six grandchildren.
