8vo. 8.75 x 5.75 inches. xii + 348 pp. Bound in original red cloth, gilt. A little wear to extremities and spine title faded; otherwise a very good clean copy. Map book plate and label of Edward Carpenter, historian of Romney Marsh. Illustrated by 4 colour plates and numerous black and white photographic illustrations, mostly whole page. The Poultry Club of Great Britain was founded in 1877, although the introduction to this volume refers to The Poultry Club authorising the publication of the first Standard of Excellence in Exhibition Poultry in 1865. The Poultry Club Standards of Perfection appeared in The New Book of Poultry, 1902, and as a separate publication in 1930. This first post-war edition of 1954 was the first to appear under the present title of British Poultry Standards with the seventh edition being published in 2018. Founded by Patrick Marrin's father George in 1946, Marrin's Bookshop has been based in its current Folkestone location since 1963. Patrick has worked in bookselling since 1970. As well as rare antiquarian books, maps and prints, the stock includes a wide range of literature, library sets, travel, history and illustrated books in all fields.
