8vo. 5.25 x 7.5 inches. viii, including 1 pp. publisher's advertisements + 528 pp. + [8] blank pages for notes. Bound in original red cloth with black titles, in pictorial dust wrapper. A little spotting of flyleaves, preliminaries, edges and some margins, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated throughout by 1214 figures, including 6 photographic figures in folding plate, 8 plates of double page figures, 19 numbered figures in Examination Questions section at end, and by 32 tables in text. Copiously illustrated standard textbook on all aspects of building construction as practised in the 1940s, orientated towards the needs of students. This title, by George Arthur Mitchell (b.1868) and Alexander Millar Mitchell was based on the work of the same title, first published by Charles Frederick Mitchell in 1888.
