About this title

Synopsis

Steele and Elder draw their examples from academic libraries, where their own experience is, but intend their guide to be useful to librarians in any context. They explain how to set meaningful goals, build a winning development team, develop donor profiles and prospects, communicate the library's mission, and approach major donors with confidence and specificity. Review

"[This book] is everything it should be. It's well researched, written clearly and succinctly, and unafraid to tackle the thornier issues."

"This book is a valuable resource not only to library directors, but also to anyone charged with a development goal."

"The bottom line: If you do not have [this] work (either edition) you need it."
