The Perkins School for the Blind has made My Bent Tree into a talking book, and a Braille edition for readers who are blind or visually impaired.

My Bent Tree is a hardcover, hand-painted picture book for children approximately ages 2-9. It's a story told in rhyming verse about diversity, overcoming adversity, friendship, social action, loyalty, ecology, and conservation. The theme is GREEN. It contains questions in the back for parents and teachers about diversity and trees.

Parents, teachers, and children love the story; younger children like the rhyme, while the older children understand the messages. The story shows that even if we are different, we can be okay: "Sometimes we are fine in spite of our dents." It is printed in the United States on recycled paper.

One day while walking her dog, Kathy Brodsky saw a crooked pine tree.
That was the inspiration for the delightful story of My Bent Tree, which is now available in a bilingual English/Spanish edition as well.

Kathy Brodsky is a clinical social worker, poet and author.

She writes books that are timely, visually exciting, educational and fun!

In addition to reading for fun, teachers and parents often use Kathy's books to promote social awareness in their kids. The stories and discussion questions engage and help readers see how the challenges of the characters are similar to those in their own lives. To date, her books include 15 rhyming picture books and one book for adults.

Cameron Bennett illustrated his first book when he was about 3. It was a book he also wrote. Now he illustrates other people's stories, many by Kathy Brodsky. He has illustrated articles for magazines and newspapers, painted murals inside schools in the US. and also in England, where he now lives with his wife and their two young children. He has painted lots of portraits for law firms and universities like Boston College, and has even painted the mayor of his little English village. He loves music and dance (which is how he met Kathy Brodsky, by the way) but especially art, and he hopes you enjoy all of the books he has illustrated for Kathy.
