The bill states that the words 'Upon the true Faith of a Christian' should be omitted from the Oath of Abjuration when a Jewish member take the oath. Baron Lionel Nathan de Rothschild (1808-1879) was the first Jewish person to become a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons on July 26, 1858.
