pp.333 with 124 illus. from photos. by the author plus 2-page publisher’s catalogue. 8vo. Hardback. TEG. Dated signature of E.S. Steward (F.R.C.S, M.B.O.U) in pencil, plus later bookplate. Minor spotting, o/w. contents fine. Original illustrated and gilt lettered boards exceptionally bright, showing just a hint of shelf-rubbing, o/w. fine. Lodge’s fascinating account of expeditions to photograph birds in the wild in Spain, Hungary and the Balkans in the early years of the 20th century. Edward Simmons Steward (1871-1954) was an eminent Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons as well as an enthusiastic egg collector. His diaries were published by Peregrine Books.
