From the library of renowned naturalist Eric Hardy who has loosely inserted and tipped in a number of related articles and images relating to John Gould, including his published review of the this very work ‘Birds of Europe’. Spotting to fore-edges of text block o/w. a fine hardback. Unique copy. Reproduces a selection of the plates that first appeared in John Gould’s Birds of Europe. One of the inserts is a Press Release from the Natural History Museum (London) annoncing their hosting of a celebratory exhibition ‘John Gould - Bird Man’ which brought together ‘Gouldiana from all over the world’ and that the book ‘John Gould - Bird Man’ by Maureen Lambourne is available to buy. Also tipped in is the illustrated pre-publication flyer for Birds of Australia and Birds of Europe.
