Neatly rebound in 20thC half sheep on sl. heavy boards, black morocco label. D. Wickham booklabel. v.g. Not listed by Roff. A pleasing copy of this scarce Lamb work, published anonymously in 1805, and again for a second edition in 1809, at which time Lamb wrote to his friend the explorer Thomas Manning, explaining 'I have published a little book on titles of honour'. Although considered by some to be too formal for Lamb, he was known to have produced several works for a juvenile audience around this time, and given his pecuniary circumstances, it seems likely that he would have accepted this commission with no little enthusiasm.
