This story is a true account of the author's struggle with severe sleep apnea and his eventual success in controlling this debilitating condition. The author details what sleep apnea is and why it is a problem for both the individual and for society.

The author's initial denial of his condition leads to treatment by conventional methods before he learns of a scientifically based method of breathing. After completing a six week Course he enjoyed better sleep and better health. Ten years later the author continues to enjoy better sleep.

About the Author

Paul formerly practised law for over 30 years before his obstructive sleep apnoea changed the quality of his health.

After battling with sleep apnoea, in varying degrees, for almost a third of his life he came to realize that his mother's sleep apnoea was not diagnosed before her death at 70 years of age. In honour of his mother's memory he has written about his diagnosed sleep apnoea so as to share his experiences for the benefit of others. 

The improvements to Paul's health inspired him to attain certification as a Breathing Retrainer. He also is certified as an Applied Mindfulness Practitioner.

Paul teaches a Mindful Buteyko Breathing Course.
