160, col illus. . HB. Vg in d/w (short tear to front panel, in removable, protective sleeve). An attractive and original account of British butterflies by the distinguished wildlife artist and naturalist David Guy Measures (1937-2011), illustrated with his colour paintings, field sketches, drawings and photographs. Measures pioneered the practice of painting living butterflies in flight and in their natural habitats, rather than working from preserved specimens. His spontaneous, expressive watercolours combine artistic sensitivity with detailed observations of butterfly behaviour, ecology and habitats. The work reflects his extensive field studies of British butterflies and includes forewords by Sir Peter Scott and David Bellamy. [9780130831132].
