Beard, former NBA player and coach and currently a TV commentator for the New York Knicks, provides here an all-around program for aspiring basketball players. In easy, conversational style, he discusses fundamentals of the game, drills, on-court strategy and conditioning and, throughout, emphasizes the importance of dedication and development of a "good" attitude. He also includes unusual and creative tips, such as his recommendation that, while watching basketball games on TV, viewers narrate aloud, as though they were announcers, because "you'll find yourself noticing finer and finer qualities in what you observe." This is a clear, concise guide, replete with helpful diagrams, photographs and flashes of humor. January
