Large folio 18 1/2 x 13 inches- VERY HANDSOMELY LEATHER BOUND in full period red morocco by BICKERS. Spine with dense gilt tooling in compartments and twin leather lettering labels, boards with thick bands of gilt roll tools and gilt roll tool turn ins, gilt edges and marbled endpapers. Some slight discolouration to the boards. Printed vignette title, list of plates and 148 line engraved plates including engraved sectional titles- 2, 39, 34 for Homer. 34, 36 for Aeschylus and 34 for Hesiod by Blake. Complete. A very clean and handsomely presented copy of this edition. John Flaxman RA (1755 1826) was a British sculptor and draughtsman, and a leading figure in British and European Neoclassicism.
