16mo., 38 leaves engraved throughout (including pictorial title) on one side only; intermittent light water-staining but generally well preserved in original maroon roan-backed printed boards incorporating woodcut of Harris' shop; rather rubbed with lower left corner (35 x 40 x 65mm) of printed paper torn from upper board, but sound. Issued plain (as here) or coloured, each leaf comprises a large engraving with factual caption at head & doggerel rhyme at foot, for each of the 'monarchs' from Caesar to the Prince Regent. Moon 151 identifies five issues (all with engraved title dated 1818) from 1818 to 1843, but not this [second] printing with paper watermarked 1822. Extremely scarce, NSTC & Copac locate BL, Edinburgh, Sheffield & Library of Congress copies only, though also in Osborne I.162. The Bodleian Library have just published a facsimile edition (November, 2005). History Illustrated Children's Book.
