[4], 47, [1]p, half title. Black border to titlepage. 8vo. Stitched as issued; some even ageing to paper. Near contemporary inscription at head of half title, 'to Miss Prince' and 'David Whitney's book, Westminster 1805'. ESTC T11749. Thomas Newman, 1692-1758, was assistant minister and later pastor of the Carter-Lane Meeting-House, Blackfriars, London. He was a friend of fellow-presbyterian Sarah Wilkes, the mother of John Wilkes. The author, Edward Pickard, 1714-1778, was a campaigning dissenting minister who founded the Orphan Working School in 1758. Seller Inventory # 66274
