Oscar Tableaux Recents 18-31 Aout, 1961' [at] La Grand Cafe-Brasserie under the auspices of Philippe Erre (French text); (2) 9 x 21cm 4pp 'Small Drawings and Paintings by A. Oscar' [at] Chiltern Gallery, 8 April 1963; (3) 15 x 20cm 4pp 'Paintings of Mesnilval and Collioure Conference Room, Chelsea, October 1966'; (4) & (5) (duplicate catalogues) 17 x 22cm 4pp Batista e Mady A. Oscar As 21 horas do dia 20 de Novembero de 1973 [Rio de Janeiro] (Portuguese text). All in good condition. Born in Cork, Peter Sheldon Williams studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London and later on the continent. He changed his name to 'A. Oscar' to avoid being confused with another artist Inglis Sheldon Williams (1870-1940). He held his first exhibition in 1936 at the Galerie Zak in Paris. In the following year the Wertheim Gallery gave him a joint show with Alan Pinder and many others followed, including one at the Windsor Arts Centre, 1986.
