Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the Brigade Machine Gun Company, 87 Infantry Brigade, 29th Division, covering June 1916 to January 1918 across 176 pages. It names 50 places across 66 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one casualty and personnel return, seven reports, narratives and plans, eighteen Operation Orders, four appendices and three maps. Among the papers are: List of casualties in Action on July 1st 1916 87th Bde Machine Gun Company.; Special order of the Day Haig, G., K.C.I.E., K., A.D.C. Commander-In-Chief, British; 87th Brigade Machine Gun Coy operations order No 6; Report on Machine Gun operation on the 27th Inst; 29th Division instructions No.3; 87th Machine Gun Company. operation order No.18. (Appendix I); Special order of the Day De Lisle, 29th Division. (Appendix 1). The diary opens at Englebelmer on 2 June 1916. 1916 is spent at Englebelmer, Ypres, Brandhoek, Soues and Louvencourt. 1917 at Bellacourt, Bussy, Nr Crombeke, Henoville and Grand Rullecourt. 1918 at La Val D'Acquin, Brandhoek, Henoville, Borthes and Vlamertinghe. It closes at Brandhoek on 28 January 1918. Englebelmer is where it spent longest, 42 days across four separate stays, it came back to Ypres five separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 17 days at Bellacourt. In 1916 it is also recorded at Amplier, Proven, 'J' Camp, Allonville, Buire, Fricourt, Bernafay, Airaines, Citadel and Bricqueterie. In 1917 it is also recorded at Combles, Bronfay, Soues, Vignacourt, Fieffes, Lucheux, Etree-Wamin, Warluzel, Bavincourt and Feuchy.
