Item description from seller

pp.x, 153. 8vo. Fine hardback in fine dw. This book aserts that at the end of his life Darwin was said to have discussed with Lady Hope his return to the Christian faith. The author here takes a more favourable view of the story than do most of the historians who have researched it, but he makes use of substantial information that they do not. The author has significant material on Lady Hope herself, and evidence that she was a truth-teller in a number of her other accounts which can be checked.
