Scarce. In addition to his stated contribution, Ford provides lengthy footnotes throughout the text. The pretext of the couple being in Germany was in order for Ford to secure a divorce from his first wife - something that 'probably never happened, but they claimed it had' (ODNB). (Harvey A40).
