Contemp. or sl. later full panelled calf; sympathetically rebacked, sl. rubbed & scuffed. 18th century ownership inscription of Robert Charles Marly(?). A nice copy. ESTC S115703, eight copies in UK (including three in Cambridge); nine in North America. There are three separately paginated sections but the signatures are continuous. The additional two titlepages are A Spanish Grammar., and Pleasant and Delightfull Dialogues in Spanish and English.; all three titlepages have the same imprint. Richard Perceval, 1550-1620, was an English politician, administrator and lexicographer. He first published his Spanish grammar and Anglo-Spanish dictionary in 1591 under the title Bibliotheca Hispanica. It was first revised by John Minsheu in 1599 and again in 1623 after Perceval's death. It was printed by Haviland for numerous London booksellers hence the six variant imprints recorded by ESTC.
