A finely bound set of Reed's edition. Published in fifteen volumes in 1803, this "elaborately revised version. generally known as the first variorum" (ODNB). It was the first to publish all the major textual variants and critical notes from the previous editions. Jaggery, p. 515. 12 vols, octavo (195 x 188 mm). Contemporary diced calf, flat spines lettered in gilt, divided by gilt fillets and dark-stained bands, tooling to compartments and bands, foliate gilt roll to boards, grey-blue endpapers, marbled edges. Bindings a little marked and rubbed, corners bumped, contents mostly clean. A very good set.
