Clowes and Sons, London, "Volunteers thoroughly instructed in the few movements laid down in the following pages, will, in a short space of time, become far more efficient than those who attempt to acquire the more complicated system of drill detailed in the Field Exercise book for regular troops, in which, from the nature of their organization, they can never expect to arrive at any great degree of proficiency."
