Quarto 12x8 inches, slightly later half morocco over marbled boards. 7 titles printed in red and black, accompanying text and 126 FINE ENGRAVED PLATES, including 18 dogs, 17 lions and tigers, 3 bulls, 4 wild boar, 18 deer or similar, 3 wild cats, 6 wolves, 6 bears, 21 horses, 14 donkeys and pack animals, 2 rabbits, 2 badgers, 3 otters, 3 foxes, squirrel, weasel, and a porcupine. All plates in different sections. Some occasional mild spotting. A reasonable copy. Johann Elias Ridinger 1698-1767 was a German painter, engraver, draughtsman and publisher. He is considered one of the most famous German engravers of animals, particularly horses, hounds and hunting scenes.
