Vincent Whitelaw, marbled e.ps., intricate inner gilt dentelles, early C20th speckled calf with intricate gilt tooled border, intricate gilt tooled compartments with gilt lettered labels to spine, a.e.g. ESTC T135758; Alexander Nisbet (1657 1725), heraldic writer. Unable to attract the necessary financial backing for the publication of his major treatise System of Heraldry Nisbet extracted from his drafts of that work the section on Cadency which had printed at his own expense in the above work, and which he intended should be a prospectus for the principle work and thus stimulate the necessary resources.
