Small 4to, pp. [iv], 19; in modern drab wrappers. The Norrisian prize essay for 1792, winning the award instituted by the will of the Cambridge benefactor John Norris (d. 1777), who also founded the professorship of divinity there, as well as leaving money to distribute books at the town gaol. The unusual place of printing must be explained by the fact that soon after winning the prize for 1792 (he had also won it in 1791), Fawcett went to become assistant master at Hull Grammar School; in 1795 he was appointed headmaster of Carlisle Grammar School. ESTC records only six copies of this book: one each at the British Library and Hull University, and four in various libraries at Cambridge; no copy outside England.
