However, owing to present-day condi-tions and national conservation restrictions, etc. certain species have been omitted as examples of these birds are no longer available to aviculturists. All the popular species of Passeriformes from Africa, Australia and America are dealt with at some length, and where available, particulars of aviary breeding have been included. A particular feature is the inclusion of Canaries, Zebra finches and Bengalese. All the domesticated species are described and there is a special refer-ence to their latest colour developments. Among other species covered in this volume are the Coliiformes (Mousebirds), Coraciiformes (Kingfishers, Bee-eaters, Rollers, etc.), Piciformes (Barbets, Toucans, Woodpeckers), and the many other sub-orders and families of the Passeriformes.
