Fourteenth impression; 8vo (21.5 x 14.5 cm); with photographic and other illustrations throughout, prize bookplate to front pastedown; prize binding of full tree calf by Bickers, gilt rolls to board borders and edges, gilt armorial motif to upper cover, spine ornately gilt in six compartments with contrasting red and black gilt morocco lettering pieces, all edges marbled, spine a little faded, a near fine copy; 464 pp. A lovely full tree calf binding of this classic work on life on the road in England during the Middle Ages, by Jean Adrien Antoine Jules Jusserand (1855-1932), French Ambassador to the United States between 1903 and 1925.
