Second edition ("Improved edition of an anonymous pamphlet printed at Belfast, 1828" - preface).). 8vo. 14 pp. "Commenced with the sole view of proving the immortality of man" (preface). Read (1759-1859) served in Congress, from Massachusetts, 1800-1803, and was a well-regarded judge, farmer, and inventor during his final years in Belfast, Maine, 1849. OCLC locates seven copies (Harvard-Divinity School, Harvard, Peabody Essex, Bowdoin, Library Co. of Philadelphia, British Library). Original plain wrappers, stitched. Fine.
