Octavo/8vo, measures around 5 5/8" by 8 1/2" by 1 7/8" each. Black half-leather binding and marbled paper boards, gilt-blocked title and tooling to spine with raised bands. Extensive rubbing, scuffing and some chipping, especially at edges and on hinges of first volume, with outer rear hinge almost fully cracked and the board only a little attached to spine at the top, with cracking to inner hinges, which are still attached, though with crude tape repairs to inner rear hinge. Some cracking to inner hinges of second volume but binding intact. Bumped corners to both volumes, a little torn. Bindings reasonably firm. marbled page edges, marked and darkened to upped edges, with a little scuffing and marking to other edges but reasonably clean. Marbled endpapers, a little foxing to blank preliminary and hindmost pages. Slight tanning and the odd mark to page surfaces but otherwise clean, no underlining, marginalia, etc. A nice pair of books. See pictures for further information.
