Das Londoner Architekturb�ro Wilkinson Eyre Architects, 1983 gegr�ndet, macht seit den 1990er Jahren durch eine Vielzahl innovativer und phantasievoller Bauten auf sich aufmerksam. Ein Schwerpunkt bilden spektakul�re und konstruktiv anspruchsvolle Br�cken, zu deren bekanntesten und preisgekr�nten die Gateshead Millennium Bridge (2001) und die Floral Street Bridge (2003) geh�ren. Das Buch dokumentiert etwa 15 Bauten und Projekte ausf�hrlich, wobei die Einbindung in den jeweiligen Kontext von besonderer Bedeutung ist. Zu den vorgestellten Projekten geh�ren u.a. das Magna Centre in Rotherham, UK, das National Waterfront Museum Swansea, UK, den Guangzhou West Tower, China und die Gatwick Airbridge, UK.

Peter Davey is an architect. He was editor in chief of Architectural Review for many years and has written many books on architecture.

Kurt W. Forster is an art historian and teaches at the Yale School of Architecture.
