With 'Purchased at Hill Top' sticker to rear. Hill Top and former owner bookplates to front paste-down. A 'VG' copy. Association interest - gift inscription to the dedicatory leaf from Henry P. Coolidge to the former owner of this book, it reads: "new relations and good friends whose generous hospitality has revealed once more - after too many years - the Paradise of The Lakes. Affectionately. Henry P. Coolidge. July 21, 1991". It is known that Beatrix Potter originally wrote this story for her own enjoyment and for a thirteen-year-old American boy named Henry P. Coolidge who had visited her at her farm with his mother Gail in 1927. Since it was not intended for publication, Potter wrote the story using local idioms and actual locations.
