Engraved frontispiece portrait, engraved title in both volumes, folding facsimile plan of Abbotsford in 1811 at end of vol.1. First Edition. Two volumes. 8vo. [222 x 145 x 64 mm]. xx, [ii], 445 pp; xv, [iii], 435, [1] pp. Contemporary binding by Birdsall & Son of Northampton (signed with an ink pallet on front endleaves) of half green goatskin, marbled paper sides flanked with gilt triple fillets. The spines divided into six panels with gilt tooled raised bands, lettered in the second and fourth and at the foot, the others with a thistle within a compartment, marbled endleaves, top edge gilt. (Corners a little bumped). Edinburgh: David Douglas, 1894. A very good copy. With the Askew family armorial bookplate.
