Seltene kleine Schrift. Ausgehend von der Feststellung, dass in der griechisch-orthodoxen Kirche 180 Tage strenge Fastenregeln gelten, untersucht Eckenbrecher die theologischen Hintergründe und wendet sich dann den positiven gesundheitlichen Effekten des Fastens zu. Eckenbrecher (1807-1887) studierte Jura, Philosophie und Theologie, wurde 1833 zum Dr. phil. promoviert und ging danach für 10 Jahre nach Griechenland. Nach Berlin zurückgekehrt, nahm er ein Studium der Medizin auf (Promotion 1850). Danach zog es ihn nach Konstantinopel, wo er bis 1857 als Arzt wirkte. 1873 unternahm er eine dritte Orientreise bei der er mit Schliemann zusammentraf, dem er entscheidende Hinweise zur Lage Trojas gegeben haben soll. Sein Sohn war der bekannte Landschafts- und Marinemaler Themistokles von Eckenbrecher. - Stockfleckig und Papier etwas gebräunt. Seller Inventory # 191041
