Wild pansy ('Love -in-idleness') illustrating 'Midsummer Nights Dream', Act II, Scene 2, as the basis of the elixir which makes Titania, Oberon's queen, fall in love with Bottom the ass. 'Yet mark'd I where the bolt of Cupid fell:It fell upon a little western flower,Before milk-white, now purple with love's wound, And maidens call it love-in-idleness'. Hand-coloured lithograph print.
