The history of education has been reinterpreted and expanded to two chapters. Finally, the chapters have been reordered, so that social foundations now precede philosophic foundations. These revisions have been made as a result of a careful study of recent trends in conceiving and teaching courses in the foundation of education. Since the parts of this text are relatively independent, the instructor may alter the sequence to suit his taste. He may begin with history and proceed to philosophy or vice versa.
