Duodecimo, pp., xxii, 619, [1], plus 6 full-page maps and plans, three folding. Publisher's original scarlet dust jacket; publisher's original scarlet cloth, titled in gilt to spine, lettered in gilt to upper board. Paul Bidwell's inscription in ink to front free end-paper. Corners and spine-tips of jacket rubbed. Minor shelf-wear to extremities of binding but cloth and gilt bright. Contents clean, bright, and fresh. A very good copy. Caesar's commentaries on his conquests and expeditions in Gaul and Britain. Paul Bidwell OBE was responsible for the excavation of Vindolanda, and the reconstruction of Segedunum on Hadrian's Wall, and remains one of the most respected archaeologists of his generation.
