Genesis and Part of Exodus in Bengali. Translated from the Hebrew by the Calcutta Baptist Missionaries.

Later edition of this translation by the British missionary William Yates (1792-1845), whose Bengali-language rendering of the Bible took a decade to complete. His version of Genesis and Exodus was first published in 1842, in a volume covering the Old Testament up to Esther. Here, the text extends to the end of Chapter 20 of Exodus. Yates arrived in Calcutta in 1815 and, with the exception of a short period of home leave, spent the remainder of his life in Asia.
