If you haven?t, prepare to be transported to a rural England that predates motorways, marketing departments, and the phrase ?work-life balance.? This is not a book about dramatic revolutions. No one storms anything. No one live-tweets a scandal. Instead, Thompson captures the slow turning of seasons, the texture of village life, and the small, dignified heroics of ordinary people who measured wealth in community rather than square footage.
