Fifteen star players in the National Football League provide an inside look at some of their triumphs and disappointments, on the field and off

Grade 5-9-- Fifteen current stars of the NFL detail both their finest and their worst encounters on the field. Some 30 full-page, full-color photographs feature the individual subjects, many in game action. The athletes' stories of disappointment are the more insightful of the two, probably since they tend to humanize the players and are a change from most juvenile sports books, which tend to taut all the triumphs and downplay the tribulations. While the majority of the ``bad days'' are about failures in a game situation, others include injuries incurred and frustrations at not being put in to play. While a base knowledge of terminology and strategy is needed, the intended audience will certainly have it. A worthy purchase where football is popular. --Tom S.
