"The intention of the Editor in the following Work was to make a Selection of what might be most necessary for a learner. Lily's and the Portroyal Grammars are too copious for a schoolboy: and the Eton Grammar, which would otherwise be sufficient and is certainly the best of those in common use, is written in Latin, which is an objection of great importance.
