A sequential, incremental grammar curriculum for Grades K-8 designed to complement phonics-based reading programs. It will help its users build grammatical and syntactical skills by beginning with the most basic of units and introducing the next logical unit only after the first unit has been mastered. Grammar Works empowers its users in the areas of handwriting, spelling, reading, and grammar using a multi-sensory (auditory, visual, kinesthetic, and vocal) system. This multi-level teaching manual is a non-consumable, foundational grammar program which contains word-for-word teacher instruction for all lessons. All grade levels can be taught from the same combination Teacher/Student manual that contains word-for-word manuscript and cursive letter formation instruction and 44 grammar lessons. The only other materials necessary are composition notebooks, penmanship paper, pencils, and red pencils for each student. Suitable for use in classrooms and homeschools--ca! n even be used with remedial or special needs students.
Jay Patterson has been an educator for twnety-five years, is currently teaching English on the secondary level in the Wadena-Deer Creek public school system, and has participated in the homeschooling of his own children.
In addition to his classroom activities, Jay has trained hundreds of classroom teachers and home educators to use this approach with their students. He also directs plays for the school's drama department, and is actively involved in his church and community.
Jay is the recent recipient of the Golden Apple Achievement Award from Ashland Chemical, a business that recognizes outstanding teachers. He makes his home in Minnesota with his wife and two sons.
