About this title

Synopsis

A story of hope, love and inspiration: Patrick K Lombule revisits his mother's words of wisdom in order to reinvigorate all our lives in the modern world. At the age of nineteen Patrick K Lombule found himself in surgery at a local hospital in Norway. The emergency appendectomy was a frightening experience and he was terrified that he wouldn't see his family again. When Patrick awoke after his operation, one thought preoccupied him: that whilst he had been lucky enough to recover, on that very day other patients had not been as fortunate and died at the hospital. Struck for the first time by profound awareness of his own mortality and the cruel, fleeting nature of life, Patrick was overwhelmed with a fervent desire to cherish the family from whom he had so nearly been taken, and to live every day of the rest of his life to the fullest. The Heart Of A Mother is a wonderful, earnest account of how a young man found comfort and inspiration in the teachings of his mother. Her simple pearls of wisdom enabled him to succeed, to be happy and to resist temptation. His teenage illness brought the achievements of his mother sharply into focus, and he felt compelled to offer her sage advice to others, through his first book, making her guidance available to those who perhaps have lacked such a vibrant moral compass in their own lives. The Heart Of A Mother provides a poignant reminder of what is truly important in life, and the best course to take in order to attain fulfillment and joy. It transcends cultures and races with its universal message of hope, and has a particular charm thanks to the unique voice of its twenty year old author.
