The work illustrates both helpful (medicinal)and decorative plants. Blunt says "Perhaps the most impressive French botanical work of the period". Helleborus Niger is commonly called Christmas rose or black hellebore, it is an evergreen perennial flowering plant in the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae. It is poisonous. Size: 460 x 35 mm. Copperplate engraving with original hand colour. Good condition.
