30 lines in black ink on first & second side of 4pp 8vo, integral address leaf; lightly folded for posting, torn at seal retaining wax. A warm letter in which Procter asks his friend to 'stand for my little boy as godfather'. Aware that this may be considered an imposition, Procter adds, 'If there be anything unpleasant in this, or you have any scruples that stand in the way of you doing, what I am sure you will wish otherwise to do, I hope you will mention them without the least hesitation'. Should Atkinson decline the request, Procter assures him he will 'shake [him] by the hand quite as cordially as before'. Whether Atkinson accepted the honour, we have been unable to ascertain.
