First Edition, of no more than 100 copies. Octavo, pp., vii, [3] of contents, 181, [1] blank. Lacks the two folding maps of the Central & Western Alps, but extra-illustrated with eleven tipped-in maps from Baedecker's Switzerland. Later crushed red half calf, over marbled paper boards, titles gilt to green leather spine label, edges speckled red. Bookplate of Herbert Porrit Cain (1908-1927), President of the Fell & Rock Climbing Club (1925-27), to front paste-down, maps annotated in red ink by the former owner. Leather rubbed, joints a little worn, spine sunned. Edges of book block toned but contents clean and rather bright. A very good copy. A solid copy of a scarce work by an 'enthusiastic but inept' Alpinist. An annotated, extra-illustrated working copy from the library of a notable and considerably more adept climber.
