Joseph Maria Bochenskis Hauptwerk wurde zuerst 1956 veroffentlicht. Es enthalt, nach einer systematischen Einleitung, in seinen vier Hauptabschnitten die Problemgeschichte der griechischen, scholastischen, mathematischen und indischen Logik, die anhand von Originaldokumenten dargestellt wird. Das Ergebnis ist ein Einerseits ergibt sich die Einsicht, dass die Geschichte der Logik nicht nur durch fruhere Stadien unserer heutigen Wissenschaft ausgemacht wird, sondern dass in ihr sich mehrere hochstehende, sich autonom entwickelnde und in Wesentlichem verschiedene Gestalten der formalen Logik unterscheiden lassen. Andererseits wird deutlich, dass die Problematik im Grunde durch diese ganze Geschichte weitgehend dieselbe ist. Somit ist das Werk mit seinen mehreren hundert Texten und ihrer Erlauterung auch ein gut lesbares Lehrbuch der Logik, das jedem Lernenden ermoglicht, die Grundlehren, Probleme und Theorien dieser Wissenschaft aus ihrem Werdegang und ihren verschiedenen Ausbildungen zu begreifen.

Established in 1979 with a medium size stock, shop is in North London less than half an hour from West End. We are open Thursdays to Sundays 10,30. to 6.30, but telephone and computer usually manned daily. Named after Thoreau's book, not connected with the American book chain. We do feel that actually being able to see the books one is browsing is what bookselling or buying is all about and all of the the books offered are from our shop stock and may be viewed during shop hours or by arrangement when closed. We also stand at occasional book fairs. Please note only a small amount of our stock is on the website, we have over 10,000 titles in our shop, please let us know if you need any other books.
