Three volumes, complete. Octavo. xliv, 466; 602; xii, 696. In fine matching Kings College presentation bindings of full calf, these later presented to the Daltry Library, Stoke by the original recipient John Thomas Arlidge. Fine bindings with fine gilt rolled border, college device to upper boards, the spines with raised bands, gilt in compartments, contrasting red and black lettering pieces. Minor rubbing, all joints and hinges are sound, all edges gilt, each volume bears the engraved Kings College presentation label and the Daltry Librar (possibly a private library which I cannot trace.) No library stamps or marks. Ownership signature of John Thomas Arlidge (1822-1869), an important physician who studied new methods of treating lunatics. He made important studies in industrial diseases leading to major improvements in factory sanitation. He was Mayor of Newcastle Unde Lyme in 1878/9.A VG set.
