[Fantasy Adventure] FIFTH EDITION, first thus. Octavo (22 x 14cm), pp.256. With 13 illustrations by the author, including five colour plates. Publisher's green cloth with gilt titles to spine, and illustrated maps to endpapers. With the illustrated dust-jacket, priced at £10.99. Blue ink gift inscription to half-title, otherwise internally clean. Light spotting to edges, with some minor general wear to extremities. Very good. Seldom has any book been so widely read and loved as this classic tale. Its hero, Bilbo Baggins, has taken his place among the ranks of the immortals: Alice, Pooh, Toad. Tolkien's Middle-Earth is a vast mine of treasures and knowledge, its roots delving deep into folklore, mythology and language. 'The Hobbit' is an ideal introduction to this richly imagined world, which was more fully and complexly realised in 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Silmarillion'. Seller Inventory # 71982
