3 Volumes. 4to. (approx. 30 x 24cm) hardbacks in full tan calf with raised bands, decorative gilt to spines, with decorative gilt borders and faint blind-embossed patters to boards. Gilt dentelles. All edges and endpapers marbled. All three volumes illustrated with full page engravings and maps. Ink name and date (1888) to title page and handwritten family notes of the Lister family to two previous blanks plus a sheet, also inscribed, attached to another early blank. Occasional light foxing and some offsetting from plates. Slight wear to tops and bases of spines. Overall VERY GOOD, HANDSOME SET. Canterbury is close to London (about 1 1/2 hours by train) and only 30 minutes drive from the Channel Tunnel. The Chaucer Bookshop is situated in a beautiful 18th Century building inside Canterbury's city walls. The building was originally one house but was established as a bookshop in 1956. The adjoining property was also later acquired and the bookshop greatly extended. Amongst the wide range of books (on 2 floors) you will find art, architecture, history, English literature, topography, travel, food and wine, railways and many more. We have a variety of original prints and maps for sale and a selection of modern First Editions and fine bindings. We also stock a comprehensive range of Fine Art greetings cards and wrapping paper.
